Mission Statement
Friends and Families of York Village, we believe every person deserves a chance to thrive. Our mission is to uplift the residents of York Village and neighboring communities by transforming healthcare, education, and entrepreneurship opportunities. We are driven by the passion to reach uninsured and underprivileged families—ensuring they have access to the programs and support they need to build better lives.
Friends & Families of York Village Donates Backpacks and School Materials to Rural Education Committee (R.E.C) Primary School at York Village
Your generous support is not just a donation; it's a catalyst for change. With your contribution, we break down barriers and create pathways to hope, dignity, and success. For instance, a $ 25 donation provides essential medical supplies for health clinic patients, a $ 50 donation funds a new book or educational resource for the school library, a $ 100 donation supports entrepreneurial training workshops and startup materials for participants, and a $ 500 donation helps secure land and equipment for production activities.

A pupil of Class 6 Thomas Gina Alpha gave the vote of thanks on behalf of the beneficiaries.
It was all smiles and joy for both parents /guardians, pupils and Teachers in what can easily pass off as a festive occasion. This was what the Village of York located along the Atlantic Ocean; some 20 kilometers from Freetown, the capital city of Sierra Leone looked like on Thursday 3rd October 2024.

You may wonder what was the occasion? an Organization based in the diaspora, Friends and Families of York Village brought relief to both pupils and their parents by donating essential school materials in the form of Backpack or school bags containing educational materials such as books, pencils, erasers, ledgers and pens to one hundred and eighty seven pupils of the Rural Education Committee Primary school.
The Vision and Challenges
At Friends of York Village, we believe that every person deserves access to quality healthcare, education, and economic opportunity. Yet many families in York Village and neighboring communities face barriers that keep these vital services just out of reach.

We are excited to share that through strong partnerships and community collaboration, we are laying the foundation for three transformative projects:

- A Community Health Center, in partnership with York Village Hospital, to provide accessible and compassionate care to uninsured and underserved families. This center will help improve health outcomes and quality of life.
​
- A fully equipped Library at the Primary School—a place where children and youth can discover the joy of reading, access enriching resources, and unlock their potential.
​
- An Entrepreneurial Production Program that equips residents with training and support to grow sustainable backyard farms and small businesses, tackling food insecurity while fostering economic independence.
​
These initiatives are currently in critical planning and development stages, and together, they will build a healthier, better-educated, and more self-sufficient York Village. To bring these visions to life, your support is crucial..
